about

This one covers topics of overpopulation and extinction of alarming numbers of species due to human activity. The way that a group of humans that could all fit on one island if we stood shoulder to shoulder could wreak such havoc on the global systems of nature.
Some argue that overpopulation isn't a problem, because populations stabilize and even decline in "developed" post-industrial countries, and so once the rest of the world catches up, the problem will disappear. But is the quality of life enjoyed in these developed nations even possible without the borderline slavery happening in less fortunate places to produce affordable goods for the middle class? Can post-industrial countries exist without industrial countries to create the goods they consume? Even if it's attainable, what will the world look like by the time we get there?

lyrics

Balancing the urge to love
Something I am a part of
With the want to watch it die
As it destroys all other live

Swallowed
In a sea so vast and wide
Lost among
The countless others in the tide

Drowning in humanity
Each life a tiny droplet
Pooling in our lungs

Something so miniscule
Has become so deadly
Now
Drown

Poison spreads
Toxicity diffusing into everything
Building up
Every human being leaching waste
Into the sea

Our
Impact far beyond our size
As every cell withers and dies
Deprived of all its oxygen
Reduced to mush by the poison

Choking on humanity
Burning smoke particles are
Blackening our lungs

Something so miniscule
Has become so deadly
Now
Something so fundamental
Has become a toxin
Now
Drown
